The ONE Campaign’s goal
is to “make poverty
history.” The first step was to
band together 11 of America’s most well-known and respected non-profit,
advocacy and humanitarian organizations: Bread for the World, CARE, DATA,
International Medical Corps, International Rescue Committee, Mercy Corps, Oxfam
America, Plan USA, Save the Children US, World Concern, and World Vision. Other organizations have since joined
these founding members for this common cause and many other individual
volunteers have started their own local groups to help the cause in their
areas. You
can visit the national
site at www.one.org to learn what activities
and/or groups that are in your area by going to Get Involved > Get Local and
searching for your state. What are the next steps? Signing the ONE Declaration (see below)
and wearing the ONE wristband to show your support. You are
already making an impact on AIDS education, research
and prevention. Next, you can
educate the communities in which you live about other key ways to make a huge
impact for our international community: Millennium Development Goals,
Debt-Relief & Fair Trade. And
finally you can make an impact by SPEAKING OUT to our decision makers, our
non-profits, our businesses and our friends/family to get everyone involved in
a solution and to collectively use our knowledge and resources to better our
communities.
